Professional activities and areas of interest

I have served in a variety of positions at Ferris State University since August of 2014; the most recent position being a Professional Advisor for the School of Digital Media.

The role I held prior to this was the Student Access Specialist in the Office of Transfer and Secondary School Partnerships. In that position, I had the opportunity to expand my use of university systems and gain a working understanding of the student admission process from initial contact through class registrations. I helped build positive and lasting external partnerships with the end goal of increasing student enrollment in post-secondary education, especially for Ferris State University. As part of my responsibilities as the coordinator for the Woodbridge Promise program, I worked one-on-one with pre-college students in strengths-influenced coaching sessions, helping them discover resources available for making informed decisions about their college and career opportunities. As the clerical assistant for the Staff Center for Training and Development at Ferris, I co-presented in many of the center’s presentations to faculty, staff and students about effective communication, group collaboration and leadership.

Prior to my positions at FSU, I worked in primary, secondary, and regional education centers with partners at the local, state, and federal levels doing a variety of administrative and instructional work in the field of education. I have enjoyed all of my roles in education and have gained knowledge in the areas of educational systems, systems management, and the process improvement cycle related to student outcomes. I have also gained a sense of personal joy from the impact my work has had on student achievement and success.
