Professional activities and areas of interest
Dr. Holmes is an Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems/Computer Information Technology at Ferris State University. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Holmes worked in IT at Ferris State University in many different capacities including technology and Elearning. She has many years of training faculty and providing computer support. She implemented a comprehensive electronic management system of patient/student clinical records which incorporated bar-coding and electronic scanning. She has been a subject matter expert for reviewing critical core computer competencies, as well as being the Blackboard Systems Administrator for Ferris State University for many years. She has taught a wide range of courses in the information systems/technology fields.
Prior to her career in academia, Dr. Holmes worked in IT for beer/wine distributor and the automotive industry. She was also an adult education instructor teaching computer courses for many years.
Dr. Holmes has presented at many different conferences on many different topics from Dental Seminars, American Society of Civil engineers, to Blackboard.
Dr. Holmes is actively involved in research and her latest adventures include Virtual Reality. She is currently the VR Internship Coordinator and research team member.
