Graphic Design Seniors Share Portfolios with Industry Professionals

May 5, 2016

On Thursday, April 22nd, this year’s graduating class from the Graphic Design Program presented their portfolios at the Downtown Market in Grand Rapids, MI.

The twelve students were given the opportunity to share their collection of projects one-on-one with design professionals and receive feedback. This event allowed for networking and even led to the graduating seniors being presented with job opportunities.

Maria Roelofs, one of the seniors who participated in designing the event, says, “It was a good turn out, and it was great seeing my team’s hard work pay off. I was able to get positive feedback on my work from the attendees that I can use to improve and learn.”

The professionals in attendance came from design studios such as Square One, Carnevale Interactive and Brightly, as well as large companies like Herman Miller, Gordon, Meijer and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

“It was an exciting opportunity to get your name out there, most graduating students wait weeks just to get into the door of some of these places. Here at Ferris they all come to you for one event, and you are able to collect business cards and get meaningful advice you can apply to your upcoming career” states Kaila Parent, a senior in the program.
