April 11, 2017

A research article entitled “The Use of Embedded Mobile, RFID, Location Based Services, and Augmented Reality in Mobile Applications” authored by Dr. Greg Gogolin, professor and program director of Information Security & Intelligence (ISI), and Erin Gogolin 2014 graduate of the ISI bachelor program, has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Handheld Computing Research, Volume 8, Issue 1.

The article describes the impact of the rapid proliferation of mobile devices such as smartphones and other hand held appliances. This has stimulated the development of a broad range of functionality in areas such as medical, retail, gaming, and personal applications. The use of augmented reality is becoming very common, particularly with Android users, and location based services becoming ubiquitous.

“This is the second journal article that I have published with my daughter Erin, who is also becoming a prolific author.” said Dr. Gogolin, “I aspire to develop her fluency in Spanish as we have lived in South America teaching digital forensics and learning more about the cultures of the world.
