Information Security & Intelligence Students Place in The Top 10 Percent in National Competition

December 6, 2016

A team of Ferris State University Information Security and Intelligence (ISI) students, organized by ISI professor Gerald Emerick, participated in the Fall National Cyberleague competition the week of Nov. 28th and placed in the top 10 percent.

“This is an outstanding achievement,” said Professor Emerick, “especially since this is the first year Ferris participated in this event.”

The members of the team from both the Big Rapids and Grand Rapids campuses prepared for the competition outside of the classroom starting in October of this year demonstrating a strong commitment and passion to cyber defense.

The team event requires students to work together to solve real cyber security problems with real deadlines. Approximately 150 teams from across the nation competed in the event. The competition was focused on objectives from the Security+ and Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) exams.
