Online Graduate Business Programs Recognized by U.S. News and World Report

January 18, 2013

Ferris State University’s online graduate business programs rank among the nation’s best, according to U.S. News and World Report’s Top Online Education rankings.

Ferris ranked 54 out of 213 schools listed in the prestigious news magazine’s report released this week. The College of Business offers both a master of Business Administration online and a master of Science in Information Security and Intelligence as a combination of online and on-the-ground courses.

“While we don’t make a practice of pursuing rankings–doing so is not always in the best interests of those we serve–we do appreciate the U.S. News and World Report ranking as acknowledgement that we are on track,” said David Nicol, dean of the College of Business. “External confirmation that we are perceived as effective in this is gratifying.”

“We believe our MBA program to be somewhat unique in emphasis–with particular focus on performance metrics for the workplace–and designed to facilitate access for the working adult through its online delivery mode. About 100 students are enrolled in Ferris’s online MBA program, while a little more than 30 are enrolled in the new MS degree program,” Nicol said.

U.S. News and World Report based its rankings on level of accreditation, student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, and peer assessment.

In addition to the College of Business recognition, U.S. News and World Report ranked Ferris No. 1 on its list of best online graduate nursing programs.
