Project Management Team Advances to Competition Finals
March 27, 2014
The Project Management Institute (PMI) team, coached by Ferris instructor Dan Tuuri, will participate in the last round of the Project Management Institute’s “THE Project” competition on April 14 at Davenport University. Currently placing first out of ten teams, the Ferris team is hoping for a strong finish. The winner of the competition will receive a $5,000 cash prize.
The Western Michigan Collegiate Project Management Competition invites teams of three to six students to compete for cash prizes and paid internships. Each team creates a project management plan for a given business situation. The judges evaluate the plan based on the “Product Management Body fo Knowledge” fundamentals, emulating a business choosing a project to fund.
Each team is required to follow a schedule of deadlines at each stage of the competition. They make presentations to the panel of judges while tackling unplanned issues in the process, showcasing their abilities to handle realistic business challenges.
