I first got into strengths by taking the online assessment for my FSUS class. Once I got the results back, I had no clue what any of it meant and thought these top 5 strengths did not match me at all. I finally said that to the professor of my FSUS and she gave me a brief explanation as to why those strengths fit me perfectly! Once the fall semester of 2015 was almost over, I received an email asking if I would be interest in doing a discussion with some of my peers. I was nervous but I said yes. The discussion went GREAT. The two women who were facilitating it asked if I would be interested in pioneering and joining an RSO related to this topic and of course I said yes! Once I invested more time and energy into learning about strengths, I saw that I could use it in my professional career. I have received two internships and a summer job by telling the employers my strengths. I also present the basements to those strengths in a positive way, especially when they ask “what are your weaknesses?” I still cannot believe how far we have come and I’m so excited to see what the future holds.
