PR Student Interns at 500 Festival in Indianapolis

Olivia Adams, a public relations student, recently finished her internship with the 500 Festival in Indianapolis, IN.

The 500 Festival is a non-profit organization that helps organize one of the most important races in Indy Car racing, the Indianapolis 500. Hosted at the world’s largest spectator sporting facility, the event attracts more than 250,000 fans each year.

An internship of this magnitude comes with a lot of responsibilities. Olivia took on the role of writing the 500 Festival Parade scripts, writing and distributing press releases, attending television and radio interviews, and managing the website. She also was the social media manager, overseeing the 500 Festival’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.

“I am getting the PR experience I’ve always wanted! This internship has definitely solidified everything I have learned in the classroom thus far. I’ve also learned a lot that isn’t taught in the classroom,”
said Adams.
