Sports Marketing Student Interns In North Carolina

This summer, Sports Marketing major Courtney Meharg, takes her skills to the East coast for an internship.

Interning for the Carolina RailHawks in Cary, North Carolina, Courtney’s responsibilities include being a part of the Community Marketing and Outreach Assistance, where she researches and sets up soccer events and tournaments that the RailHawks can attend. The RailHawks are an American professional soccer team that was founded in 2006. The team is a part of the North American Soccer League, which is one step below major league soccer.

“Being part of the women’s soccer team at Ferris, this internship has been the perfect fit!”

Aside from having to step in as the RailHawks mascot every once in a while, Courtney attends 3-6 events a week, where she educates fans about the RailHawks and organizes events to get fans interested in the team.

“I have loved the internship so far! It has given me great insight on what potential careers in sports marketing will involve, and getting experience in the office and at events has been great.”
